When We’re Down

In my life there is only one thing that has helped me to rise again and that is prayer. I am a veteran of the Vietnam war so that makes me nothing now but old. Old with a lot of memories that I cannot run fast enough to get away from and this includes my dreams at times. A person cannot run from dreams as we each carry them with us for the rest of our lives.

At a point in my life I had become a useless human being. It got so bad that it put me in the hospital for almost three months and included, in the price of fare, an almost two year recovery. Drinking is what it was. I say this not as some erstwhile confession but to demonstrate the degree of downward spiral or trajectory I was on. I was nearly dead when I got to the hospital with swollen brain, failing pancreas, and alcohol poisoning. Nice job, Thec!

I do not say this to garner sympathy but to introduce the power of prayer done properly. I understand that religious talk in these days is near heresy and I care not what other’s think as concerns God and Christ. They are as real as this computer I am typing on and it is time for people to realize it.

The Bible is not some book written by a bunch of old and daft dead guys but is the implementation of God’s will for the remainder of this time on Earth. The sooner one understands this the sooner one can save themselves. There is no other source of eternity than Scripture and the bending of one’s will toward the will of God. Why in the world do you think you’re so frightened? It is because, without God’s word, you are being cast about on an angry sea of lost humanity. You and any elected or usurping president of any country are now powerless to save you. It is up to you to discern truth and truth does not belong to man or woman. There is only one truth and we are almost past the road sign that says, “End of Road Ahead.” Deep inside you know this, do you not?
